[CALL FOR PAPERS] The Frontiers in Development Policy Conference for KDI School’s 25th Anniversary

CALL FOR PAPERS 
The 3rd Frontiers in Development Policy Conference 
12-13 October 2022 (Seoul, Republic of Korea)

The Korea Development Institute School of Public Policy and Management (KDI School) is delighted to invite policymakers, professors, and experts to submit papers related to the field of development cooperation for an upcoming conference. This marks the third annual Frontiers in Development Policy (FDP) Conference, and we are welcoming papers pertaining to eight topics, including a special theme of “History and future direction of development policy research,” to mark the 25th anniversary of the KDI School’s founding. Selected papers will be presented during the FDP Conference on 12-13 October, 2022.

The first FDP Conference was launched in 2020 to provide an in-depth discussion on the issues of global development policies by experts and specialists from leading international development institutes. FDP Conferences aim to share empirical and policy research findings on various development issues. It will provide a platform not only to explore the complex processes of the global economic market but also to debate policies and actions towards designing and executing high-quality development policies.

Conference Venue:
We are currently planning to hold an in-person conference and will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation. However, due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation and travel restrictions, the conference may be held using a hybrid format or completely online depending on the situation closer to the time of the event.

Suggested Topics:
KDI School welcomes the submission of high-quality original research papers in the areas of development policy. Topics of paper include, but are not limited to, the following:

A.   History and future direction of development policy research
B.   International development cooperation policy
C.   Inclusive finance and growth
D.   Data economy and data science in development
E.   Conflict and development
F.   Governance, open government, leadership and public management in development
G.   Dynamic sustainability and climate change
H.   Social economy and population in development

Submission details:
All papers must be written and presented in English. Extended abstracts or original full papers should be submitted to the conference organizers through the conference website (conference.kdischool.ac.kr) by 15 July 2022 (KST 24:00). The criteria for selecting papers are relevant with regards to the conference themes and the academic quality of the research. A maximum of 12 authors will be selected, and those who present their papers at the conference will be awarded an honorarium of USD 3,000 as well as airfare and accommodations. (This may be subject to change if only a virtual event is held due to COVID-19.)

KDI School of Public Policy and Management: 
The KDI School of Public Policy and Management was established in 1997 by the Korean government to educate and develop the next generation of leaders in today’s rapidly changing and globalizing economy. KDI School is a premier graduate school in the field of public policy, development policy, and public management. It aims to transform mid-career professionals into leaders in their respective fields by equipping them with new knowledge, vision, and global perspective.
