KDI School hosts special lecture

On 7th July, the KDI School held a special lecture titled The Korean Economy in the Swirl of the Global Crisis at the Ambassador Hall which was attended by Ambassadors and Representatives from Foreign Embassies, NGOs and Multinational Corporations in Korea. After a hearty reception and luncheon which provided a rare opportunity for the mingling of the diplomats and the students, the next item on the agenda was the special lecture. Dean Sang-Moon Hahm gave a brief welcoming speech in which he expressed his sincere gratitude to the international diplomatic community for their efforts in the achievement of the KDI School’s mission of international knowledge sharing especially given the schools’ increasingly globalised atmosphere. Next, Assistant Dean, Park Hun Joo gave a detailed presentation of the KDI School and its programs terming the school as “young, dynamic and dedicated to academic excellence”. Lastly, was the lecture given by Dr. Dong Soo Kang who is renowned for his intelligence in matters finance. Dr. Dong Soo Kang provided an in-depth discussion about the causes of the global financial crisis and explored the challenges the global financial crisis pose particularly for Korea and provided some policy suggestions that can help Korea cope with those challenges.
