Could you please introduce yourself?

Hello, my name is Md. Al Amin, and I hail from Bangladesh. Since 2018, I have been employed as an academician in the Marketing Department at Jagannath University, Bangladesh. In the early stages of my career, I also served as Assistant Brand Manager of PRAN-RFL Group, which is a multinational company in Bangladesh. I want to advance my teaching and research careers in the field of sustainable tourism development. In my opinion, KDI School is the world's top educational facility for accomplishing one's career goals, like me. This is so because the university offers a rich curriculum taught by a diverse group of world-class professors. KDI School's teaching approach is revolutionary and unprecedented across the globe. These were the reasons why I decided to apply to KDI School.

Beyond academics, KDI School is a multicultural institution that assisted me in becoming self-independent. I have never lived overseas without my family before. When I first arrived at KDI School in the fall of 2022, I was taken aback by the unfamiliar surroundings and the many challenges. The biggest challenge was finding halal, suitable food for myself. I was considering how to live, in particular, how to handle halal food. However, it is not surprising that KDI School has a Halal international cafeteria and respects all religious groups.

Which classes were the most affecting your professional growth? Which courses would you recommend to others as well?

The range of courses available at KDI School that have managerial implications is impressive. I particularly enjoyed the ‘Quantitative Method’ and ‘Introduction to “Research Design & Method” courses, both of which will serve me well in my future career as a researcher. Moreover, policyholders need to be familiar with both the fundamentals of research and the cutting edge. Therefore, I believe it is essential for students to attend courses like "Introduction to Research Design & Method" and "Advanced Research Methodology." They will be more equipped to work with research agencies and make informed decisions for their businesses as a result of the knowledge gained in these classes.

How has your experience been living in the KDIS international dormitory?

There is a well-equipped communal kitchen in my dormitory. Truly speaking, I had never cooked before. Yet I quickly understood that cooking was not as tough as I had imagined. I took help from my family members virtually at the beginning. Moreover, Syed Azharul Islam, a fellow countryman, gave me a lot of assistance during my experiment. Cooking was not only a useful skill, but it also had many advantages outside of the kitchen. I can now become more independent and self-sufficient when it comes to cooking. It made me feel accomplished and increased my self-assurance in other spheres of my life. I can now prepare beef, chicken, and fish curries, in addition to various other foods. Also, cooking gave me a way to interact with other students. We could test out our own recipes in the school's communal kitchen. Lastly, gaining cooking skills while attending KDI School was a priceless experience. This experience will be very helpful to me in the future, especially in terms of being able to prepare food independently.

What types of cuisine do you enjoy cooking the most, and why?

My favourite dish to cook is 'Bengali Beef Curry'. This meal features tender beef cooked in a rich and flavorful curry masala, which includes a blend of spices such as cloves, cinnamon, onion, and garlic. The aroma and taste of this dish are sure to tantalize your senses. As a beef and curry lover, I frequently prepare dishes with beef, lamb, and chicken curry. Moreover, I brought a variety of spices from home so that I can make delicious meals.

What are your favorite Korean dishes in Korea? What would you recommend others to try?

I have had the pleasure of trying several Korean foods, and bibimbap is one of my favorites. This dish features a mix of beef, chili peppers, and vegetables, and it's delicious. I would recommend students to try bibimbap, as well as Bulgogi and Japchae. Additionally, Korean noodles are one of my favorites.
