📢Relaxed Document Submission Requirements Due to Middle East Situation

Due to the current situation in the Middle East, which has made it physically difficult for regional diplomatic missions and applications to proceed with the standard selection process, the document submission deadline has been extended, and requirements have been relaxed as follows:

- Mandatory Online Submission: Applicants must upload all scanned documents to the system for preliminary evaluation.

- Deferred Originals: Original documents (Consular/Apostille) are deferred until flights resume, but must be submitted after the final results.

- Conditional status: 'Conditional Admission' is granted until originals are verified. Entry is permitted only after final verification.


*List of CountriesBahrain, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates (UAE)

📢 HOW TO SUBMIT

※Please submit the required NIIED documents with an apostille or consular legalization to KDI School. (Please refer to the attached guidelines.)

- Do NOT submit the original documents; instead, have a notarized copy of the original, and obtain the apostille or consular legalization on that notarized copy for submission.

- Submitted documents will not be returned in accordance with the regulations.


* (Only For Myanmar Applicants) In accordance with NIIED regulations, Myanmar applicants may submit certificates and academic documents without an apostille or consular authentication at the time of application.

However, candidates who pass the second screening must submit consular-authenticated documents through the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Myanmar at a later stage.

The document submission period at the embassy will be individually notified after the second screening results are announced.

However, the Hard copies without apostille must still arrive at KDI School by the application deadline.

📌 NIIED Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

 

1. Can I apply for the University Track if my country is not listed as an eligible country?

 No. The University Track and Embassy Track have country-specific eligibility criteria set by NIIED, meaning only applicants from designated countries can apply. However, the Global Network Program has no country restrictions, so applicants from all countries are eligible.



2. How should and when should I submit my recommendation letters?

·         Submit recommendation letters online via the KDI School application system.

·         No hard copies are required. No NIIED Form 5.

·         Enter your recommenders' email addresses in the online application system.

·         Recommenders must submit their recommendations electronically.

 


3. What is the final selection quota for the Global Network Track?

 The Global Network Track will admit 25 final candidates.



4. What are the course requirements and program structure for the Global Network Track?

 Program Duration: 1.5 years (coursework throughout the entire duration).
 Graduation Requirements: 36 credits total

·         First 3 terms (Fall, Spring, Summer): A minimum of 9 credits per term

·         Fourth term (Fall): A minimum of 3 credits

·          Mandatory Concentration: Students must select Data Science for Public Policy and Management as their second concentration



5. Where is the Korean language training for University Track and Embassy Track conducted?

 The 1-year Korean language training is conducted at Paichai University in Daejeon. (https://www.pcu.ac.kr/eckfl)
 Daejeon is one of Korea's five major cities and is located 30 minutes from Sejong, where KDI School is situated.



6. Which documents require an apostille or consular confirmation?

 The following three documents must be apostilled or consular-confirmed:

1.      Proof of Citizenship and Family Relationship Documents (Applicant’s/Parent(s)')

2.      Bachelor’s Graduation Certificate (or Diploma)

3.      Bachelor’s Degree Transcript

 Important: NIIED reviews over 6,000 applications annually, and incomplete documents will lead to disqualification. Please ensure all required documents are prepared in advance.



7. I was not selected at the document screening stage of another track. Can I still apply for the GKS University / Global Network Track?

✅ Applicants who were not selected at the document screening stage of the GKS Embassy track, as well as ADB-KFP Scholarship applicants, are eligible to apply for the GKS University / Global Network Track within the application deadline.



8. When should I submit my online recommendation for the Embassy Track?

 You must request recommendation letters when applying to the university. The online application system is expected to open in March.

One recommendation letter (NIIED Form 5) has been submitted to the embassy. 

For university applications, two additional recommendation letters should be submitted via the KDIS application system (KDIS Form). 

The same referees who wrote the first recommendation letter may also complete the KDIS recommendation letters.



9. Can I submit the Certificate of Employment in any format, or must I use the KDI School template?

 You may use either your organization’s official format or the KDI School template, whichever is preferred.

It is also possible to submit more than one employment certificate.
