The Kenya Alumni Representative opened the gathering by welcoming alumni and newly admitted students, while sharing end-of-year greetings and New Year wishes. Participants were informed that a new cohort from Kenya has been admitted to KDI School as the Class of 2026, and the Chair highlighted the importance of early alumni–student engagement to support orientation, mentorship, and a smooth transition to academic life in Korea.
The meeting recorded the highest attendance to date, and it was noted that two students will be traveling to Korea to begin their studies. Alumni shared practical experiences and guidance on academic life, cultural adjustment, accommodation, coursework management, and student engagement at KDI School. Strong emphasis was placed on disciplined study habits, effective time management, early communication with faculty, and active participation in seminars and research activities. Alumni also highlighted the value of research, global networking, internships, and collaboration opportunities in strengthening future career prospects.
The discussion further covered visa and travel preparation, adapting to Korean culture, and possibilities for research collaboration and part-time engagement. To ensure continued support, newly admitted students were added to the KDIS Kenya Alumni WhatsApp group. The Chair concluded the meeting by thanking all participants for their active engagement.
