Jiwoo Park, a dedicated student returning to academics after 20 years, embarked on a transformative journey at KDI School, where she embraced challenges and flourished in an international environment. Her decision to pursue studies at KDI School marked the beginning of a new chapter filled with personal and academic growth.

Despite the initial difficulties, Jiwoo’s determination never wavered. She gradually adjusted to the unfamiliar academic setting, overcoming obstacles and thriving in her studies. She affectionately calls KDI School a “Small UN," as it provided her with the opportunity to connect with peers from all over the globe, creating lifelong friendships that enriched her experience.

Jiwoo fondly recalls her friendships with Gihesha, who helped her navigate her first classes, and Thae Oo, who introduced her to the flavors of Burmese cuisine. Throughout her journey, Cherie, a classmate in the LPM course, became her unofficial English tutor, supporting her as she adapted to a new academic language.

Group projects, initially daunting, soon became opportunities for growth. Working alongside Monina, Girma, and Yeonhee, Jiwoo learned the importance of communication and teamwork in a multicultural setting. A memorable experience with Pooja, Gloria, and Lang took her to the Gongju Flower Festival, where they bonded over shared cultural experiences and traditional foods.

Jiwoo’s time at KDI School has not only expanded her academic horizons but also given her a global perspective that she will carry with her long after graduation. The vibrant, diverse environment has strengthened her resilience and left her with lifelong connections, proving that KDI School truly is a “Small UN” where personal and academic growth flourish hand-in-hand.
