KDI School signs MOU Agreement with Sejong City

KDI School President Joon Kyung KIM and Sejong City Mayor Choon-hee LEE signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for mutual cooperation on February 19 at Sejong City Hall. The two organizations agreed upon 11 issues in three sectors for communal development.

First, KDI School will reinvigorate policy consultation for the city’s administration. In addition, the two organizations will conduct joint research projects for the city’s development, and share data and information on policies.

Second, for educational and vocational cooperation, KDI School encourages greater participation of government officials in its Master’s programs. KDI School offers three programs: Master in Public Policy, Master in Development Policy, and Master in Public Management. President Joon Kyung KIM said, “KDI School aims to help Sejong City develop policies more effectively by building and enhancing the capacity of government officials.”

This MOU between KDI School and Sejong City also brings good news for KDI School students. According to the agreement, Sejong City will provide internship opportunities for KDI School’s international students. Additionally, it plans on offering city tours for foreign dignitaries. The City Hall anticipates that its lecture series will have more audiences with more KDI School students participating in the lectures.

Third, the two organizations will allow each other to use their facilities, hold a friendship match, improve residential amenities for both domestic and foreign residents, and participate in each other’s key events.

President Joon Kyung KIM and Mayor Choon-hee LEE said, “Sejong City has taken its first step for practical policy making and implementation based on KDI’s accumulated knowledge and outstanding human resources,” and added that “The city government and KDI School will put strive for the city’s development as an administrative capital.”
