Also, during the closing ceremony, KDI School President Kim Joon-Kyung offered his remarks on sharing knowledge. President Kim stressed that a country’s capacity to share knowledge is key to effective policy implementation.

On March 30th, 2016, more than four-hundred high-level representatives from sixty-six countries and eleven multilateral institutions gathered in the World Bank Headquarters in Washington D.C for the Third High-Level Meeting on Country-led Knowledge Sharing. Following previous events in Bali/Indonesia in 2012 and Seoul/Korea in 2014, this HLM3 reflected the unprecedented relevance of Knowledge Sharing as an accelerator of global development.

The goals of this HLM3 were to see if knowledge sharing supports current global development goals. Co-hosted by the government of the Republic of Korea and the World Bank Group, participants at the Third High-Level Meeting on Country-Led Knowledge Sharing (HLM3) assessed how country institutions can make a better use of their knowledge and operational experiences as a way of improving the delivery of public services to those under the poverty line.

This edition of the High-Level Meeting on Country-Led Knowledge showcased the progress made by the participating countries’ institutions in leading new knowledge sharing cultures and their impacts in improving service delivery. It also highlighted the opportunities for integration of knowledge into the World Bank Group’s lending operations and advisory services.

Among key messages, participants committed to build stronger capacities of country institutions, such as line ministries and sector agencies, to capture and share their best solutions. Country-led initiatives will be further supported by international partners. In particular multilateral institutions identified numerous opportunities to engage with their clients, for example by embedding Knowledge Sharing capacity in lending operations and multi-year programs related to the Sustainable Development Goals recently adopted by the United Nations.

KDI School was an active participant in this year’s Meeting in Washington D.C. The K-Developedia Team set up a booth to promote KDI School and K-Developedia. K-Developdia is a public depository of knowledge and information regarding Korea’s socioeconomic development experience. Launched by KDI School in 2012, K-Developedia has more than 30,000 resources on Korea’s development.
