Selected people from all over the world came to Sejong City to start a new phase of their lives - getting Master’s Degree. On August 26, 2019, KDI School welcomed these new students during the 2019 Fall Opening Ceremony and Orientation at Lincoln Hall.

The program was opened by a short message from the Dean, Jong-il You, followed by an introduction of the faculty members by the Associate Dean, Kwon Jeong. Scholarship awards were also presented to selected students by the school management.

Shortly after the opening ceremony, students were divided into three separate groups wherein a chosen chairperson introduced their respective degree programs. This was followed by the introduction of the Office of Student Affairs Division, cultural awareness session, and human rights and sexual harassment prevention session, to finish off the first half of the day.

In the afternoon, the freshmen had their course consultation sessions with their assigned academic advisors and their course presentation session to give them guidance as to their academic paths. "The course introductions were very informative. I now have a better idea which courses to take," shared Chinny Jin Cruz, from the Philippines, said.

For this semester, 85 students from 57 different countries and 12 Koreans were admitted to KDI School. One of the international students, Abdulaziz Sami Khada Bakhsh from Saudi Arabia, is the first-ever scholar from his country.

The school has a lot more in store for the freshmen for the rest of the week, such as the dormitory orientation, scholarship group orientation, medical check-up, Korean culture presentation, and Sejong City tour. The fall semester classes will officially start on September 2, 2019.
