A vibrant celebration of global unity, where flavors, rhythms, and traditions came together to create one unforgettable KDIS experience.

KDI School’s campus came alive on a bright afternoon as the 2025 International Culture Festival unfolded, an unforgettable fusion of flavors, music, and creativity. For the first time, the traditional Food Festival and Talent Festival joined forces to create a single, vibrant event that celebrated diversity, community, and the beauty of global connection.

The festival opened with a warm welcome and the lively energy of students representing over 24 countries. The atmosphere was electric: laughter, music, and the aroma of traditional dishes filled the air as the KDIS community, students, faculty, families, and guests gathered to experience the essence of “Where Cultures Meet, Where the Difference Begins.”

A Celebration of Flavors and Stories

The first part of the event, the Food Festival, invited visitors to travel the world through taste. Eight teams presented dishes that told stories of heritage and identity. Among them, the Latin American team stood out with their vibrant display and heartfelt storytelling.

“Our team was comprised of a beautiful mix of Latin American cultures,” shared Jair Guamaní (MDP, 2025). “The selection of Causa Peruana was due to the common use of potato in our region and the shared heritage; this tuber was domesticated in South America, used to earn money for the cause of Peru’s independence, and it has become an essential part of most of the Latin American cultures. Also, we served Horchata, a refreshing and traditional drink that highlights the natural ingredients and warmth typical of our countries.”

For Jair and his teammates, the challenge went beyond cooking. “The most challenging part was coordinating the preparation while keeping everything organized, with the standards of hygiene demanded, under time pressure,” he explained, “but the most rewarding part was working together and seeing people from all over the world enjoy our food. Food became a bridge; it connected us beyond language and borders.”

As visitors tasted each dish, they also voted in three categories: The Best Combination of Taste, The Most Beautiful Dish, and The Best Hygiene & Safety Award. The friendly competition added excitement, while the spirit of cooperation reminded everyone of the shared values that make the KDIS community special.

Unity Through Art and Rhythm

After the final bites were served, attention shifted to the main stage for the Talent Festival, where dance, music, and traditional arts took the spotlight. Among the performers was Zin Zin Chit Myaing (MPM, 2025), whose team, Unity in Rhythm, captivated the audience with an energetic and heartfelt performance.

“It was really exciting,” Zin Zin said, smiling. “Our team practiced together for several weeks, making sure every movement expressed the meaning behind our dance. We discussed how to combine energy, coordination, and cultural expression.”  Representing her country on an international stage was a meaningful experience. “It’s an honor to share part of my culture with people from around the world,” she added. “At the same time, blending styles and learning from others reminded us that while our cultures may differ, we share the same joy and creativity through art.”

The highlight for Zin Zin came when the audience spontaneously joined in the dancing. “Seeing everyone cheering and smiling made us feel truly connected. It felt so special to see people from different countries enjoying our performance together.”

Behind the Scenes and On the Stage

While the performers dazzled the crowd, Master of Ceremony Nander Esmeralda Ndam (MIPD, 2025) guided the festival with charisma and warmth. From her vantage point, she witnessed the event’s unity unfold in real time.

“What impressed me most was the incredible effort from the Student Affairs team,” Nander reflected. “Everything, from the food booths to the performances, was so well organized and full of life. I was thrilled to taste the different dishes and see how our community came together with such energy and enthusiasm.”

She also emphasized the impact of combining the Food and Talent Festivals: “The fusion created an atmosphere of togetherness. After enjoying delicious food, everyone gathered to dance and sing. It was heartwarming to see students excitedly sharing their experiences; some were fascinated by pounding rice, something unfamiliar in their countries, while for others, it was nostalgic, reminding them of home.”

One Global Community

By the end of the day, the KDIS campus buzzed with satisfaction and connection. The festival had not only filled stomachs and stages, but it had also filled hearts. Through shared meals, performances, and creativity, students from across the globe found common ground in laughter, rhythm, and respect.

The 2025 International Culture Festival was more than an event, it was a living expression of KDIS’s global spirit: diverse yet united, dynamic yet harmonious. As the sun set over the campus, one message resonated among everyone present: diversity is not just something to celebrate, it’s something to live together.
