1. Participation in the Korea–UK Competition Authorities Seminar on Competition Analysis (October 28–29, London, UK)
Professor Jeong Yeol Kim was invited to speak at the Korea–UK Competition Authorities Seminar on Competition Analysis, hosted by the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on October 28–29 in London. He presented his experimental research on algorithmic collusion and took part in a discussion together with the director and staff members of the Economic Analysis Division of the Korea Fair Trade Commission. In his presentation, Professor Kim highlighted the risks of tacit collusion facilitated by AI pricing agents, which are expected to become a reality in the near future.
2. Publication in the Antitrust Law Section of the American Bar Association
Professor Jeong Yeol Kim currently serves as a Young Economist in the Young Economist Representative group of the American Bar Association (ABA) Antitrust Law Section. Together with attorneys in the Cartel and Criminal Practice Committee, he co-authored an article on AI agents’ pricing and antitrust issues. As antitrust concerns related to AI grow, U.S. courts have reached divergent conclusions on whether AI-based pricing amounts to anticompetitive information sharing and on the permissible scope of joint use of pricing algorithms. In this rapidly evolving context, debates on legislative and regulatory reforms are intensifying, and the article offers policy insights that are highly relevant for competition authorities. It is a specialist article written for leading lawyers and economists in the field of antitrust, and it is available at the link below.
