Dear KDI School Graduates,

We are very pleased to announce a wonderful opportunity to graduates of the KDI School of Public Policy and Management. The KDI School has just recently forged a collaboration with The Frederick S. Pardee Rand Graduate School (www.rgs.edu). Through this partnership Rand is prepared to offer one of our graduates the opportunity to study in the Rand doctoral program. The RAND-KDI Fellowship is for $38,500 ($19,000 for tuition and 19,500 for a gross stipend). If you are interested, please read the below for further details. Please note that due to the recent establishment of this partnership there is very limited time for this year’s prospective applicants. We ask that you act immediately if you are interested in applying. Thank you for your consideration.
Best,

Academic and Student Affairs

===============================================================================

The KDI School of Public Policy and Management is pleased to announce the RAND-KDI Fellowship. The fellowship, in the amount of $38,500, is generously being offered by the Rand Graduate School (RGS). This will cover the $19,000 tuition and provide a gross stipend of $19,500. This scholarship will be guaranteed for four years (if the Fellow is in residence that long).

RGS is a unique combination of exciting coursework and work-study with RAND research projects. The RAND-KDI Fellow will complete 20 quarter-length courses, pass the Ph.D. qualifying examinations, and write a doctoral dissertation. It is possible that the RAND-KDI Fellow will be able to count for credit at RGS courses already taken at the KDI School. The RAND-KDI Fellow will also perform what RGS calls “on-the-job training,” meaning research on RAND projects as part of an interdisciplinary research team with senior RAND mentors. To receive the fellowship, the RAND-KDI Fellow has to perform at least 16 weeks of OJT in the first year, 27 weeks in the second year, and 37 weeks in years 3 and 4 (when almost all coursework has been completed). Thus, the typical Ph.D. recipient will accrue almost two years of practical experience en route to the Ph.D.

The KDI School is responsible for nominating one (or two) candidates for this Fellowship. The deadline for applications is February 1st. All interested KDI School graduates must submit a copy of their completed application and accompanying documents to Ms. Jaesoon Lee (ljs@kdischool.ac.kr) no later than Tuesday, January 27th. Given the limited amount of time, it is strongly recommended that those interested in applying have the following requirements met by the time of application.

* Requirements

1. Graduated at the top of his/her class at KDI School
2. Excellent written and spoken English
3. GRE (Graduate Record Examination) Score
4. TOEFL
5. Essay
6. Transcripts
7. KDI School recommendations
8. Completed RAND Application (www.rgs.edu)

For further questions, please contact Ms. Jaesoon Lee (ljs@kdischool.ac.kr or 3299-1259).

Thank you.
