The Human Rights Supporter's note: 

     The relativity of culture is an undeniable fact. The existence of social institutions and moral rules across the globe is an indication of cultural variability. 

        Moral rules, including human rights, do not function outside a moral community. Though human rights are rights held by individuals, Western and non-          Western traditional cultures view individuals as parts of a community. Human rights are rights that every person has simply because one is a human being. Human rights are universal.     So, how can someone reconcile the competing claims of cultural relativism or cultural rights and universal human rights while attending a graduate program outside ones environment?
