Dear KDIS Students,

Greetings from the Student Affairs Division!
We are pleased to invite you to the KDIS Table!

2020 has been the year that showed us the importance of gratitude towards our environment that we have taken for granted for too long and the special bond that exists among our students.
Although we know that we cannot meet and be with one another in-person, our initiative, the 2020 KDIS Table, will be another opportunity for all of us to share, celebrate and appreciate the diversity and uniqueness of our students’ respective cultures with the entire KDIS student community online.

To join our event, we ask that you create a video of the recipes that feed your soul, as influenced by your heritage, your culture, and your story.
With the videos that you send to us, the school judges will select the ones which make the deepest impact on them and present your food at the “Food for Thought Lounge” located in the school along with your soul recipe. It will be a great opportunity to share the flavors from your own country, the story behind it and the traits that make it completely unique! There will also be a prize for those nominated.
We can't wait to receive your special food stories and discover the meaning behind each one!

By November 8th

Please submit the following to take part:

November 19th: Nominated dishes will be served in the food for thought lounge * note that schedule may be subject to change

*Students involved in the event who are from the nominated countries are encouraged to serve the dishes whilst wearing something that symbolizes their nation and culture, such as a traditional costume or their country's flag as a lapel badge (please feel free to get creative with this theme!)

What we'll be looking for in your video
These are the key criteria that the judges will be using when shortlisting and finalizing their choice of nominations:

  • Content and Tone (your own unique story; please convey the sense of joy drawn from your culture and how and why you connect to this)
  • Format (video quality; an easy-to-understand presentation that clearly communicates the key points)
  •  Practicality (a recipe which uses universally available ingredients, thus ensuring that anyone anywhere will be able to replicate and taste this dish)

Equipment that we will provide to help you with your application:
-  Lightweight Tripod (if you'd like to use one, please e-mail me so we can arrange for you to borrow one)
-  Prize: awarded to the teams which are voted as being in the top three at the festival.

We're really excited about this and looking forward to all our KDIS students getting involved!
Thank you.
