On Monday, October 12, South Korea eased the previous Level 2 social distancing measures (expanded nationwide on Aug. 23.) to Level 1, considering the signs of slowing of the number of daily new COVID-19 infections.

However, people still must follow antivirus measures, such as wearing face masks and keeping entry logs. Those who do not properly wear masks, wearing below nose or chin will be subject to fines of up to 100,000 won.

Sejong City issued a mandatory order for all residents and visitors in Sejong City to wear face masks indoors (including all types of transportation) and outdoors, starting Aug. 24 and will be in effect until further notice. Those breaking the rule will face a fine of up to 100,000 won. The grace period will end on Nov. 12.

For details on Mandatory Mask-Wearing, please refer to the following guideline from the Seoul Metropolitan Government: http://english.seoul.go.kr/seoul-prepares-first-detailed-guidelines-for-administrative-order-for-mandatory-mask-wearing/

Although South Korea’s new virus cases showed signs of slowing, sporadic cluster infections and untraceable cases have continued in the greater Seoul area and Daejeon. Please follow antivirus measures such as wearing a face mask, keeping your hands and face clean, and avoiding crowded places. Thank you.
