Five Asian students from Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and Cambodia were awarded in the KDI School-POSCO Asia Fellowship this year. The beneficiaries of the Asia Fellowship program will receive a one-year tuition fee, living stipends, housing allowances, and round trip airfares.

“We plan to provide financial support to the young talented students to help them become a new generation of the prominent leaders in the region,” said Chin-Seung Chung, dean of the KDI School of Public Policy and Management at an award ceremony held in Ambassador Hall on Feb. 17. The award ceremony marked the memorandum of understanding between the KDI School and the POSCO TJ Park Foundation in supporting excellent students from Asian countries. The POSCO TJ Park Foundation, established in 1971, the Steel Scholarship Foundation has expanded its scope of social contributions based on the rapid growth of the steel-maker’s business operation.

The POSCO Asia Fellowship is intended to provide promising Asian government officials an opportunity to study the development of the Korean economy and experience the Korean society and culture while staying here. The KDI School of Public Policy and Management was established in 1997 to educate and develop the next generation of leaders in the rapidly changing and global economy. The School offers a solid educational program focusing on policy and international issues and aims to transform mid-career professionals into leaders of their respective fields.
