Belize is a small Central American country with strong cultural and historical ties to the British Caribbean. It is located on the north eastern coast of Central America, bordered to the north by Mexico, south and west by Guatemala, and to the east by the Caribbean Sea. Its mainland is about 290 kilometres long and 110 kilometres wide. Belize is a parliamentary democracy based on the Westminster System. It also functions under a Church-State system of education.
