KDI School African students participate at the 1st world congress for Korean Hallyu(the Korean wave)

Under the tutelage of Professor CHOI, Changyong, five African students at the KDI School took part in the festivities of the Korean Hallyu, otherwise known as the Korean Wave at Korea University in Seoul on 19 October 2013. The Hallyu is the celebration of Korea’s increasing penetration of global culture through numerous means including music, art and culture, hence the reference of “the Korean Wave”. The theme of this year’s Congress was “Hallyu and Global Culture” and invited guests from more than 23 countries were invited to discuss more than 100 paper presentations on different topics. The students made presentations to the participants on various contemporary issues in Africa.  

  a) Korean Resources Diplomacy in Africa: A Comparative Case Study of South Korea Resources Diplomacy with that of US, EU and China by Mr. Isaac Uduak (Nigeria)

  b) Korea- Africa Strategic Partnership Beyond Humanitarianism: Case of Infrastructure and Construction Development in Ethiopia by Mr. Haftom Teferi (Ethiopia)

  c) Science and Technology in Africa: Building the Science and Technology Innovation (STI) Capacity needed to transform Ghana’s Socio-economic Development by Felix Ankrah (Ghana)

  d) The Future of Korean Knowledge Sharing Policy in Africa: Zero Corruption in the Public Sector by Longema Francis Manga (DR Congo)

  e) Africa and South Korea: Solid Friendship, Room for More by Michael Moleleke (Botswana)
