Sugianto Irdawansyah is an MPM 2022 student from Indonesia. His KDIS story is something special, having had to attempt admission twice. Sugianto, who goes by Gian, said that studying at KDI School is a dream come true for him.

Gian chose KDI School because he finds it advantageous for getting a job in the public sector, whether practical or theoretical. According to him, the school offers comprehensive student and learning facilities that allow students to share their knowledge and cultivate thriving global perspectives, all through a diverse cultural environment.

However, admission into KDI School was not easy. Gian first tried to enroll in late 2021 and failed, but despite that he was still eager to pursue studies at KDI School. Thankfully, his passion and motivation rewarded him with enrollment into the MPM program in 2022. Gian described his feelings as both grateful and incredulous - he could not believe his good fortune.

Being at KDIS, Gian thought that his next challenge would be adapting as he had heard stereotypes regarding the learning culture in Korea. However, to his surprise, it was easy for him to adapt to the environment thanks to KDIS’ impressive student support. Various social events and student facilities like the counseling center made him realize the importance of social and study balance.

KDIS offers various field trips, conferences and seminar opportunities that helped Gian resolve his concerns about adapting to a new learning culture. On top of that, he also received a great deal of help from his seniors and peers, who provided him with advice regarding his class materials. All this has helped Gian greatly in adjusting to his new education experience.

Being at KDIS, Gian explains that one of his favorite things at the school is the diverse backgrounds and a community that respects cultural differences. Being a Muslim, he is glad that his home away from home can provide him with facilities such as Islamic prayer rooms.

When asked about his memorable experiences, Gian said that his time as a CA for two classes has helped him in building new connections with other students and his professors. This was a challenge for him, yet he finds it memorable because it imbued him with good time management and effective communication skills.

Today, Gian is enjoying his time at KDIS and is delighted at the opportunity to be exposed to new perspectives. Beyond his academic outcomes, he says that being at KDIS has also enhanced his character, making him more tolerant and respectful and overall broadening his viewpoint. Gian feels he has found a home and is always ready to help future students when it comes to KDIS.
