KDIS Students Appointed as ‘Sejong Global Volunteers’ at the Sejong Nambu Police Station

On March 30th, Sejong Nambu Police Station appointed foreigners as volunteers to participate in community security through joint patrols with the police and operate a public security volunteer group for socially underprivileged groups, such as women, children, and the disabled. These volunteers, known as the Sejong Global Volunteers, are composed of foreigners residing in Sejong City, including international students at the Korea Development Institute School of Public Policy and Management (KDIS).

The Sejong Nambu Police Station held a meeting with the volunteers and introduced them to the mission and goals of the Sejong Nambu Police Station. Mr Park Seong-Gap, the Chief of the Sejong Nambu Police Station, gave an inspiring speech and a letter of appointment to the volunteers. They  will participate in the community security mission and volunteer work for socially underprivileged groups through joint patrols with the police.

Sejong Global Volunteers aims to carry out activities in Sejong City in the future, taking pride in contributing to the establishment of a safety net in the local community through practical activities. The Sejong Nambu Police Station has formed a security volunteer group for crime prevention against foreigners. Chief Park Seong-Gap emphasized that the police will strive to create a global community and provide a secure environment in Sejong City where everyone feels safe, regardless of nationality, by activating networks between countries, cultures, and regions.

The volunteers set an example for other public security organizations to create an atmosphere for multicultural families to settle down through community participation and crime prevention in areas where foreigners are concentrated. The participation of KDI School graduate students as volunteers shows their dedication to contributing to the local community and reflects the values of KDIS, which emphasizes a practical approach to policy-making and governance.
