The KDI School, through its opening ceremony and orientation program, makes a concentrated effort to help new students make a smooth transition into their academic life at the school and to understand what it expects of them. The opening ceremony and orientation for 2018 Fall semester were held from August 27 to September 1.

Dean YOU Jong-Il and KDIS faculty members encouraged and led the 106 new students into participating in several activities and events designed to help them understand the unique ways in which KDIS carries out its academic and co-curricular programs.

The key components of the 2018 Fall opening ceremony were: ▲ Introduction of the KDI School Faculty ▲ Scholarship Award Ceremony▲ Program Introduction Session ▲ Culture & Academic Education ▲ Course Session.

Adaha Ceesay (2018 MPP, Gambia) is more than eager to start her semester.  "KDIS specializes in public policy and management, that’s the biggest incentive for me. I’ve always thought I have the responsibility to contribute to the enhancing of capacity for my country by technical implementation."

Oguyjobi Samuel Olabanji (2018 MPP, Belize) is enthusiastic about the life he is entering into at KDIS. "The main reason that I chose KDIS is to improve my job competency. In KDIS, I want to learn how to improve technical capacity and lay the foundation for creating public policies. Before I came here, I used to work in the Ministry of Foreign Trade.  So I’m keen to concentrate on public policy which is my central interest.“
