The RAND-KDI Ph.D. Fellowship ===============================================

The KDI School of Public Policy and Management is pleased to announce that it is hereby inviting applications for the RAND-KDI Fellowship. The fellowship, which will amount to US$38,500 annually, is generously being offered by the Pardee RAND Graduate School (PRGS) to a graduate of the KDI School. It will cover the annual tuition of $19,000 and provide a gross annual stipend of $19,500 for living and miscellaneous expenses. The fellowship will be guaranteed for four years (assuming the Fellow is in residence for that long).

The Pardee Rand Graduate School (PRGS) ? KDI School Fellowship will offer qualified individuals a unique combination of cutting-edge coursework and work-study requirements that required direct involvement in RAND research projects. The RAND-KDI Fellow will be required to complete 20 quarter-length courses, pass the Ph.D. qualifying examinations, and write a doctoral dissertation. It is possible that the RAND-KDI Fellow will be able to transfer credit for coursework completed at the KDI School towards his/her degree at PRGS. The RAND-KDI Fellow will perform what PRGS calls “on-the-job training,” meaning research on RAND projects as part of an interdisciplinary research team, with senior RAND mentors. To be eligible for the fellowship, the RAND-KDI Fellow will be required to perform at least 16 weeks of OJT in the first year, 27 weeks in the second year, and 37 weeks in years 3 and 4 (by which time most coursework will have been completed). Thus, the typical Ph.D. recipient will accrue almost two years of practical experience en route to the Ph.D.
