- Title: Energy Futures: Evaluating Scenarios and Hydrogen Geopolitics

- Outline: Scenarios are a powerful and widespread tool that helps us anticipate the future, in energy and in other realms. In this two-part special lecture, we will unpack the current landscape of energy scenarios and glimpse into its future. In the first segment, there will be a systematic evaluation of the status quo of energy scenarios. Leveraging a partially machine-learning-based approach, we will rate 63 prominent energy outlooks to ascertain the goodness of the visions that steer our energy systems. In the second segment, we will explore the future geopolitics of hydrogen. Utilising a qualitative-quantitative approach, we combine scenario planning with a partial-equilibrium numerical model to analyse how geopolitics and hydrogen interact and shape the energy system.
