Dear Students,

The Ministry of Health and Welfare of South Korea has issued a warning strongly advising people against attending social gatherings during Halloween to avoid having too many people in close proximity to one another at any given time.

There are some high risk places that should be avoided at all cost. For example, nightlife venues are generally categorized as being high risk in terms of spreading COVID-19, such as the “THURSDAY Party” located in Daejeon and Itaewon and all karaoke bars. Please be aware that we need you to act responsibly and exercise due caution so that we can keep everyone safe and as healthy as possible this winter.

We fully understand that you may become bored and frustrated with having to stay on campus full time at the moment, away from the entertainment. However, it is really important that we prioritize looking after one another and protecting you and our community from COVID-19. It is certain that you'll appreciate how much of a vital role you have to play in helping us do this. Please understand that your full cooperation with this will make a real difference in us achieving this and keeping everyone on campus safe and healthy.

High-risk Covid-19 Areas designated by the Ministry:
Itaewon, Hongdae, Konkuk University Station, Gangnam station
Seoul Nat’l Univ of Education Station, Sinchon Station, Incheon.

Please follow the guidelines below:
- It is strongly recommended that you do not to host or or attend any Halloween parties in your community.
- If you do have to meet your friends, please ensure that only have small gatherings and within the limit for close social groups, community events and other events run by a recognized business.
- Always wear a mask when you are indoors in public places.
- Only serve food and drinks if physical distancing and handwashing guidelines can be followed.
- Do not share food, drinks or serving utensils, crockery or cutlery.

Last but not least, please be aware that infections can occur at anytime and anywhere if these three conditions are present: close contact, enclosed spaces and gatherings when people are in close proximity to one another.

Do please always ensure that you maintain your personal hygiene and refrain from gathering in enclosed spaces.

We appreciate your ongoing care and attention in relation to this. Thank you.
